We run statewide and regional courses related to nutrient management on a variety of topics. The schedules for each course are outlined below.

The Basic Nutrient Management Planning Course
No course in 2013 - REGISTRATION CLOSED
Two three-day sessions covering the basic concepts of nutrient management on a farm using manure as a fertilizer source. Course cost: $400 including three lunches.
- The classroom session covers a diverse range of topics in soil fertility, water quality, animal science, agricultural economics and agricultural engineering related to nutrient management (see past course agenda below).
- Course participants then attend one of two field and calculation sessions. The field and calculation sessions focus on how to make calculations and decisions needed to write a nutrient management plan and discussion of topics raised in the classroom course. The second session includes a visit to the MU Dairy.
This course is recommended by Missouri NRCS for TSP's writing CNMP's.
- We will apply for 29.0 Wastewater Operator CEU's and 35.5 CAFO Operator CEU's.
- For Certified Crop Advisors we will apply for 6.0 Soil and Water CEU's and 23.5 Nutrient Management CEU's.

Covers a different topic every year.
REGISTRATION FOR 2013 - OPEN - NO PREREQUISITES
Topics this year include wheat fertilizer management, organic alfalfa production, cover crops, regulatory issues and adjusting manure rates based on new manure tests.

Course Dates: February 5 to 6, 2013.
Cost: Early registration: $200 (by Jan. 29, 2013); late registration: $230. Includes two lunches.

- Approved for 6.0 Nutrient Management, 3.0 Soil and Water and 3.0 Crop Management CEU’s for Certified Crop Advisors.
- Approved for 12.0 CEUs for CAFO Operators and 7.0 CEUs for Wastewater Operators from MDNR.
Computer-Assisted Nutrient Management Planning Course
A two day course on how to use the AFOsite, Missouri Clipper, SNMP 2.0, MMP including the RUSLE2 module, the new Missouri document generators and other computer resources to write a nutrient management plan for operations using manure as a fertilizer. See the course agenda (2011 Course) for more information. Registration is limited to 10 persons per session.

PE Short Course – Design and Construction of Livestock Manure Systems to Meet MDNR Regulations
This short course is designed to incorporate the new Confined Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) regulations developed by Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) which became effective April 30, 2012. This short course builds on the technical foundation of course taught in the early and mid-1990s by Agricultural Engineering Extension at University of Missouri entitled “Design and Construction of Livestock Waste Disposal Systems to Meet DNR Regulations”.

Cost: $295
Cost includes use of computer during training and two lunches.
This course offers up to 21 PDH credits that can potentially be earned by registered professional engineers. Of the 21 PDH credits, 17 PDH credits are taught by registered professional engineers.
