Training Opportunities

We run statewide and regional courses related to nutrient management on a variety of topics. The schedules for each course are outlined below.

The Basic Nutrient Management Planning Course

Two three-day sessions covering the basic concepts of nutrient management on a farm using manure as a fertilizer source. Course cost: $400 including three lunches.

  • The classroom session covers a diverse range of topics in soil fertility, water quality, animal science, agricultural economics and agricultural engineering related to nutrient management (see past course agenda below).
  • Course participants then attend one of two field and calculation sessions. The field and calculation sessions focus on how to make calculations and decisions needed to write a nutrient management plan and discussion of topics raised in the classroom course. The second session includes a visit to the MU Dairy.

This course is recommended by Missouri NRCS for TSP's writing CNMP's.
- We will apply for 29.0 Wastewater Operator CEU's and 35.5 CAFO Operator CEU's.
- For Certified Crop Advisors we will apply for 6.0 Soil and Water CEU's and 23.5 Nutrient Management CEU's.

Computer-Assisted Nutrient Management Planning Course

A two day course on how to use the AFOsite, Missouri Clipper, SNMP 2.0, MMP including the RUSLE2 module, the new Missouri document generators and other computer resources to write a nutrient management plan for operations using manure as a fertilizer. See the course agenda. for more information. Registration is limited to 10 persons per session.
